ABOUT
OUR DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES
Our high-energy
and caring team works to provide developmental services to individuals
and families to help them become independent, self-sufficient,
and more involved in the community. We are about building long-time
friendships, meeting goals, and having fun!
In
Homes we help clients with daily living tasks, homework
assistance, recreation and social skills.
In
The Community, we help build our clients’ safety
and awareness skills so they can become an active member of their
community.
At
The Pad (our first-of-its-kind, real-life model apartment
located at our Cheshire, Conn., facility), we truly teach independence
and life skills. We allow our clients treat this apartment like
their own – using the kitchen, study room, activity room,
living room, bedroom, washer and dryer, to learn how to enjoy an
independent life.
When
we work at The Pad with a child or young adult with developmental
needs, they become part of The Pad's circle of friends. So, we do
what friends do –play video games, do arts and crafts, watch
movies, cook and share meals, listen to music. We celebrate birthdays
and holidays, play sports and other games, host pizza parties and
cookouts, and so much more. See our Monthly Calendar.
Beyond
That – Our behavioral and therapeutic staff and
consultants focus on developmental issues, helping find solutions
that work for each individual, training family and support staff,
overseeing plan implementation, conducting ongoing evaluations.
They hosts social skills groups, therapeutic programs (using sensory/aroma,
music, pets, cooking, etc.), and other positive activities.
